Schools and Solar Panels. Notable follow-up to my story on Tuesday's school district referendums, in which voters approved 6 of 8 proposed solar projects. Lawrence Ragonese of The Star-Ledger reports, "Solar panels would cover the roofs of Morris County's schools and government buildings under a county-wide green energy initiative outlined [Thursday] by county officials." Kudos to the Morris County Improvement Authority.

New Sustainability Blog in NJ. Meadowlands Commission Launches Economic Growth & Sustainability Blog, writes Evelyn Lee for NJBiz. "Visitors to the blog, www.njmcbiz.net, can find information on energy conservation tips, green development and redevelopment guidelines, links to financial incentives offered to green developers.... The blog also features news on teh agency's economic and development and sustainability initiatives, and will include a Business Spotlight section that profiles Meadowlands District companies."

Countering Wal-Mart Trouble

Energy Efficiency. NJ Board of Public Utilities sends press release: Energy Kinetics to receive BPU's 2008 Clean Energy Small Business Leader Award. Presentation on Dec. 15 at Energy Kinetics offices in Lebanon, NJ. Energy Kinetics "transformed its corporate facility into a state-of-the-art, high performance facility while integrating energy efficiency, conservation and solar power production with their advanced heating technology."

Preservation
. The Hunterdon County Freeholders have canceled at least two farmland purchases at the last minute. Now they are discussing among themselves whether to continue to chip in for preservation projects funded by nonprofit organizations. Hunterdon County Democrat.
